Consume As You Need
I can think clearly when I do something based on my needs, not when the thing is hyped
I have a confession. As a UI Designer, I never watched Figma Config in LIVE. And I never watched all Apple events in LIVE.
General reason: different timezone.
The main reason: I am the kind of person who easily gets fatigued with a lot of information that needs to be digested at one sit.
Do I still know what was announced on all those skipped events? Yes, by watching it days or weeks after. You know, if something is really important, the information will find you. It could be through your Twitter (sorry, now X) timeline, YouTube homepage, Instagram Explore, or your work colleagues.
And once it’s shared through social media, that single 2-hour+ event video will be split into many videos based on the topic.
By doing that, I can sort out what information I need and relevant to my work. Trust me, it’s easier for my brain to digest it.
Based on my experiences, from the whole event, maybe there are only 3 to 5 information that I need. The rest, either it’s a complicated thing that I don’t need at the moment OR not relevant yet to my work.
In the current state of social media with a ton of information, doing this kind of stepback helped me a lot to prioritize my work and think clearly about what to do next, instead of thinking about all of Figma’s new features or Apple’s new products.
