Help, and Get Helped
And I don't even expect that return when did the help.
During this pandemic era (since 2020), I have changed companies twice. And during my farewell, I got similar heartwarming feedback from my work colleague in different companies:
He taught me a lot when I need to learn and work on the Frontend Development side. Now I know what I must do when the Frontend Development work comes.
— Said my Backend Developer colleague —
He willingly shares his experience with me who desire to jump into UI/UX Design career. And for someone like me who want to start something new,
it’s very pleasant to get such good treatment.
— Said my Tech Writer colleague —
Back then, when I did what my colleague said, it was because I also get help when I face obstacles in my work. So, it’s just my way to pay for what I got: by helping others when the time comes.
Then what happened next? I got some side project offers and a new job in a new company. Why I can get all of that? Because there is so much help came to me: my colleague recommend me to be the event speaker, and another colleague also recommend me to fill the job position in his company.
So, this heartwarming help cycle really can be happened. But, from my experience, you should have no expectations in return. Just do it to help others, genuinely, and that’s the hardest part.
But every worth thing, mostly is the hardest, right?
